Cardiology

Becker Medical Group provides a wide range of cardiology care for our patients.

Screening & Diagnostic Procedures

Diagnostic Testing

There are multiple diagnostic tests to evaluate heart function and detect any abnormalities. This may include electrocardiograms (ECGs or EKGs), stress tests, echocardiograms, Holter monitoring, and cardiac catheterization.

Management of Cardiovascular Conditions

Our providers manage a wide range of cardiovascular conditions, including coronary artery disease, heart failure, arrhythmias (irregular heartbeats), valvular heart disease, and congenital heart defects.

Lifestyle Counseling

The Becker Medical Cardiology team provides guidance on lifestyle modifications to improve heart health. This may involve recommending dietary changes, exercise routines, smoking cessation programs, stress management techniques, and weight management strategies.

Cardiac Rehabilitation

Our clinicians may oversee cardiac rehabilitation programs for patients recovering from heart surgery or a cardiac event. These programs typically include exercise training, education on heart-healthy behaviors, and psychological support.

Electrophysiology Studies and Procedures

Electrophysiology is a subspecialty within cardiology that focuses on diagnosing and treating heart rhythm disorders (arrhythmias). Electrophysiological studies and procedures, such as ablation therapy and implantable device placement (pacemakers, defibrillators), are performed by cardiac electrophysiologists.

Preventive Care

We provide preventive care to reduce the risk of heart disease and promote overall cardiovascular health. This may involve routine screenings, risk assessments, and personalized prevention plans tailored to each patient's unique risk factors and medical history.

PET/CT Scans

PET/CT is one of the most advanced medical imaging techniques of the modern world, capturing the synergy of Positron Emission Tomography with Computed Tomography. PET/CT combines CT’s precise anatomical detail with PET’s ability to detect biochemical abnormalities within the cell. This symbiosis allows for an earlier and more accurate detection of cardiac abnormalities than either PET or CT alone. This test is provided at our valued partner’s Cedarhurst location, Five Towns Heart Imaging. This test specifically benefits individuals for a variety of reasons, including the following:

  • Breast implants

  • High-risk patients

  • Known or suspected CAD

  • Large body habitus, high BMI

  • Prior poor-quality stress imaging study

  • Requires pharmacologic stress imaging

  • Time-sensitive, emergent

  • Unable to exercise.

  • Young patients with established CAD
